2018年9月26-28日，第六届国际机器与机构史学术研讨会（The 6th International Symposium on History of Machines and Mechanisms）在北京召开。会议由国际机构与机器学历史委员会（The IFToMM Permanent Commission for History of Mechanism and Machine Science）主办，由中国科学院自然科学史研究所承办。来自中国大陆、中国台湾、意大利、荷兰、西班牙、土耳其、墨西哥等国家和地区的50名专家学者出席这次国际研讨会，会议文集由施普林格出版社刊出。

　　与会者围绕“机器与机构的历史和遗产”这一主题，分专题研讨了工程师、机械设计、古代机械、近现代机械、技术教育等议题，展现了古代世界技术的多样性和共性、技术现代化、技术跨国转移等历史图景。会议特别关注机器人、智能机器、人机系统等技术及相关产业的历史和当代发展态势，分析产学研之间的合作与互动关系，这种研讨对思考科技与产业发展战略问题也是有启发的。

　　国际机构与机器学联盟（IFToMM）前主席、意大利卡西诺大学机械工程与机械史专家切卡雷利（Marco Ceccarelli）教授强调：“历史研究会为我们当代科技工作提供宽阔的视野和思想源泉，激发对未来发展的创造热情。机器与机构史研讨会历来注重技术系统及其应用的演变，并且探讨社会和文化对技术发展的影响。”自然科学史研究所所长张柏春研究员认为：“我们的文化自信和创新自信应当在开放的心态和全球化的视野中树立起来。在全球科技史的大舞台上，我们可以通过跨文化的比较研究，对世界科技的发展和我们自己的发明创造都有更为清晰的认识。这有利于我们克服某些狭隘的理解，从宏大的历史中汲取经验和智慧。”

　　国际机器与机构史学术研讨会通常是每四年举行一次，第一届于2000年在意大利卡西诺大学举行。下次研讨会将在西班牙召开。
