The biggest challenge that human beings face now is the science and technology (S&T) crisis brought by ruin - causing knowledge, which is born from the extensive development of S&T. There are a variet y of ma j or barriers when resolving the issue of S&T crisis, such as, the optimism of S&T development, deep - rooted misunderstandings of social functions of S&T, the internal and external defects of their current development mode, failure of ethical governance on S&T, PTSR predicaments, technology cold war and arms race. In the Internet era when knowledge can be easily diffused, ethical governance on S&T always fails as it cannot successfully restrict all R&D activities within reasonable limits, especially for the advanced S&T, such as artificial intelligence. In order to deal with S&T crisis and their huge risk, it is essential to vigorously promote the new scientific revolution featured by the rise of social sciences and interdisciplinary sciences; to greatly push forward the new technological revolution featured by the spring up of controlled technology; to advance the new industrial revolution characterized by the rise of think tanks and cultural and creative industries; and to carry forward the transformation of social development of human beings. Only in this way can humans get rid of the Thucydides Trap successfully, jointly build a community with shared future, and lead the whole world to a mode of peaceful development and sustainable prosperity. |
