| 英文摘要: | Using the ponytail as a compass to draw a circle was a phenomenon unique to the new-type schools of the late Qing Dynasty, a symbol of an era of transformation. A famous photo depicting such a scene was taken in 1905 at Peking Huiwen Academy by H.S. Elliott, a missionary from The United Methodist Church. The mathematical knowledge in this photo originated from Plane and Solid Geometry. | ||||||
